Hold
on tight for a blistering-fast toxic rock-et ride known to the world as
Born
Backwards! An act continuing to entertain fans, critics, and equals, this fired-up fivesome rocks out a chemically charged electric sound begging to bitch slap the face of rock. The group - formed in 2003 have stalked the backstreets of East Anglia and the internet alike with several indie EPs, songs on local radio, and an ever growing fanbase. Compared to a non stop express train, heading for the end of the line with manifest destiny, Born Backwards tell the never ending tale of broken hearts, jealousy, revenge, and drinking until dawn - in their own words, first hand, bottom line. As they pack their gig bags, and with new songs already fine tuned in the studio Born Backwards are primed, armed and set to explode. Find out more @ myspace.com/bornbackwardsrock |

Review: "introducing The Brownies, loveable Norwich based punkpop quintet as they release their debut E.P. "Small Talk". The Record is packed with catchy punk riffs and feminist tipped lyrical content making The Brownies more than your average local pub band. I am also privileged to have seen them live, and as is often the case with the smaller unsigned band the record is dwarfed by their live performance, because of lo-fi production and a lack of the much needed punk, stage energy that The Brownies readily supply. The second Track "Vaseline kid" is definitely a gem with some real peaches-esque 'middle finger to machismo' vocals and stomping chord progressions with a raw stop start chorus that makes you stand up and take note. Overall 'Small Talk' is a great debut with plenty of potential, however I really would advise seeing The Brownies live to fully appreciate their titillatingly raw punk pop styles in all their glory." - Outline Magazine Find out more @ myspace.com/the brownies |

Compact Pussycat was formed in February 1993. By our own admission we were pretty awful at first, but inspired by encouraging remarks such as "an unfocused mess" and "girls are crap", we kept practising and persevering. This is the band most people remember. With a decent set of songs and the ability to play them, Compact Pussycat began gigging regularly in Norwich ("the darlings of the NAC") and then spread further afield to play the likes of The Bull & Gate and The Marquee Club in London. By the end of 1995, the band split: Christine left for the USA, Ella went travelling and Jenny formed Burned Dahlia. However... On to 2004: After a chance meeting at a party, Jenny, Ella and Helen got together for the first time in 9 years to reform Compact Pussycat. Find out more @ myspace.com/compactpussycat |

After
the collapse of its members previous bands If Fire Would Fall began life
as a four piece in early 2004. Through the addition of keyboards and a
second guitarist If Fire Would Fall began to form the sound they have
today. After nearly six months of bassist auditions the line-up was finally
complete allowing the band to write and record the self-produced 'Chronicle
EP'. If Fire Would Fall are busy writing new material for their next disc,
which they hope will build upon their work on the Chronicle EP and help
the band to reach a higher standard of music than they ever have before.

We
are an band from the Suffolk,Norfolk area. We have been writting our own
music for about a year now. We can't really put a genre or style on our
music because to us it is unique. It is emo, but at a whole new level.
Were not trying to create a new image, were just playing music how we
want it to be and it comes out in a way where you can't put it into a
catagory. It is really mixed so there's something for everyone! Find out more @ myspace.com/luvhatetheory |

MACGYVER Pop/Rock Weston Super Mare |
||
Post
Pop-Punk band MacGyver formed late 2004 and comprises Aaron Sayers guitar/lead
vocals, Ale McMain lead guitar/backing vocals, Matt Wilkins bass, and
Rob Whelan drums.
The four first met when starting a Btec National Diploma in Music Technology at Weston College, and two months later, the idea was born. “MacGyver” (not just a quote from the Simpsons), began gigging literally four weeks later.. Months of hard work followed and more exciting and serious support slots, including Vero, and Koopa, both well known UK bands. After writing a number of original songs, the band decided it was time to start recording. With money made from local gig’s the band funded their own studio time, and CD production. The E.P launch was a fantastic success and was the real turning point for the band. Since building a exceptional local following the band have started to appeal to a national audience. Through the help of their myspace page and word of mouth, MacGyver’s number of plays has sky rocketed! Doubling in only two weeks to an extraordinary 7000 total plays. ![]() MONDATTA FUNK Funk / Soul / Jazz Norwich |
||
Founding members Mark Howes and Chris Griggs had a vision of bringing the FUNK sounds of the 60's and 70's to Norwich, tearing the roof of the mother sucker in the process...!!!! In a previous line up we played the King Street festival attracting the attention of many other like minded musicians who wanted to be in the funky revolution.....With a number of changes on the bass we finally found the child of Motown's James Jameson, Kieran Brennan and slotted him into the mix of wah-wah and punchy funk rhythms... At a rehearsal we stumbled across a jazz poster with Miss Lauren Dove's details...we called and she strutted in a blew our minds with the dirty funk and soul in her voice....We were now a unit..!!! Over the last 2 years we have had guest players come in and add to our sound. We now have a core rhythm section that funks out on every beat and guest horns scream for you to get up to get down..... so kick back, dig...while we do it to you in your ear drums..... ![]() OBSIDIAN SKY Progressive / Ambient / Death Metal Norwich |
||
Obsidian Sky was formed after a series of bad to worse gigs with a previous line up. After 8 months of trying to bring something out of nothing, the line up was changed, the songs re-write, and with better musicans, they created what they always wanted to play. The band is now a three peice band consisting of one guitar, drums and lead vocal. After listening to alot of our piers such as opeth, the vocals are based around low growls and guteral type vocals. They made a semi group effort to write the lyrics in the band, talking about real life situation and theories with a poetic feeling to try and create a less obvious base behind the meaning of their songs. The guitar follows a very ambient, progressive feel, spiced up with spanish/mexican influences. Obsidian Sky try to create atmosphere and diversity in their songs and follow a flowing journey almost throughout the song... |

![]() OSTRACODA Rock / Classic Rock / Metal Norwich |
||
Ostracoda are an unsigned five piece hard rock band from Norwich, East Anglia. The band consists of Dan, Justin, Adam, Matt and Greg and is a regular live feature on the music scene of Norwich and the East of England. They have been together for the past three years and have just completed work on their latest release entitled 'Roads From A to B', with a full length release planned for the future after a summer touring the toilet circuits and shitty dives of the UK. What do they sound like? Think Coheed & Cambria, Pearl Jam, Velvet Revolver, A, Kyuss, Fuel, (Richie-era) Manic Street Preachers, Thrice, Helmet, Therapy? Faith No More, Guns N Roses...mix 'em all up and you should get something roughly approaching what they're about. Find out more @ myspace.com/ostracoda |

![]() PAIN PENITENTIARY Thrash / Death Metal / Metal Norwich |
||
Pain Penitentiary formed in 2004. They spent a year practising and preparing for gigs. Their sound can be described as a raw brutal mix between Death Metal and classic Black Metal. Initially they started as a four piece with Luvet, jimi Redshaw, Joe Tong and Darren Von Cohan. However due to conflict of interest Joe and Darren later left. So during a brief period in 2005 Jamie from Mindbleed filled in on bass guitar. Find out more @ myspace.com/painpenitentiary |

![]() Six Degrees of Separation Grunge / Rock / Indie Lowestoft |
||
| Six
Degrees of Separation are a grunge influenced rock band from Britain's
most easterly town, Lowestoft, home of The Darkness and described as "God's
arsehole" by Kiss frontman Gene Simmons. A town with areas of high
deprivation it houses a multitude of bands, young and old. The band formed a year ago and have a set of 25 songs. All four members guitar or vocals for drum sticks and/or bass. This gives diversity in the style of music and a great live visual performance. Their music, heavily influenced by 90s Seattle grunge, follows the "verse-chorus-verse" theme with passion and rawness and has been described as "infectious yet simplistic". The songs vary widely, the listener should be able to pick out the influences of Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pink Floyd. No prizes for guessing the main vocal influence! Find out more @ myspace.com/sixdegreesofseparatio |
